DigiLocker, a digital wallet platform managed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is set to enhance its capabilities through integration with the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New Age Governance) app.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) announced this new enhance its capabilities in DigiLocker in a press release, MeitY stated “DigiLocker has always been a pioneer in simplifying access to personal and official documents, and after integration with UMANG, it has expanded the range of services you can access on the go.”

As stated by MeitY, the new features will simplify interactions with the government, enabling users to easily access essential documents like AADHAAR, PAN, EPFO, certificates, pension details, utilities, public grievances, health and wellness records, travel information, and more.

How To Get Started:

  • Update DigiLocker: Ensure you have the latest version of the DigiLocker app installed on your Android device.
  • Open DigiLocker: Launch the DigiLocker app.
  • Access UMANG Services: Look for a UMANG icon within the DigiLocker app.
  • Existing UMANG App: If you already have UMANG installed, tapping the icon might connect the two apps.
  • No UMANG App: If you don’t have UMANG, tapping the icon will likely prompt you to download it from the Google Play Store.

This feature is limited to the DigiLocker Andriod app only because the UMANG app is not available on the iOS platform. However, MeitY said that it expanding to IOS as well in the future.
