Google is sending notifications to a few Android devices between Saturday and Sunday. The notification was shared via Google Play services and was titled “Your Android Has New Features”. Let us discuss more about what is this notification for.

Google is sending notifications to Andriod Devices

According to a report by 9to5Google, Google is sending notifications with the title “Your Android Has New Features” to some Android devices to highlight the new features available for users recently.

Previously, such notifications were sent to Pixel smartphones via the Tips app. The app would highlight the quarterly Feature Drops, providing users with more information about the new features. Some non-Pixel Andriod devices also start to get this notification via the Google Play service app as per the report.

Upon clicking the notification, a full-screen interface appears, showcasing the latest Android features. Users can swipe through multiple screens in a carousel format, exploring each feature individually.

An accompanying image visually demonstrates these new capabilities. Additionally, a dedicated “How to get started” section provides step-by-step instructions on using the features. At the bottom of the screen, Google outlines the feature’s availability details.

The new features mentioned in the notification, as reported by 9to5Google, include a QR code and translation feature in Circle to Search, short video recordings in Google Lens, the expansion of Magic Editor features to non-Pixel devices in Google Photos, and a new QR code and barcode passes feature in Google Wallet.
