With the launch of ‘Playables’ on the Youtube app, users can play lightweight game directly within the Youtube app. This similar feature offered by LinkedIn and Netflix, which also allow users to play games within thier apps.

Youtube’s ‘Playable’ features

The new “Playables,” feature is available within the app. It was initially available for selected users for testing and later made available for Youtube premium subscriber last November Now, it’s also available for free, non-premium users. The ‘Playables, currently include 75 mini-games to play, including popular game like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask, and Trivia Crack.

Currently, YouTube’s Playables don’t monetize the games through paid download or in-app purchases This is likely to avoid direct competition with the app store model and Apple’s regulations. In the future, these Playables games on YouTube may include ads, but there’s no indication from Google about this yet.
