India’s Minister of Communications came up with a new system to block international scam calls. The System is developed by the Department of Communications (DoT) in collaboration with Telecom Service Providers (TSPs). This system is called the ‘International Incoming Spoofed Calls Prevention System’
How does this system work?
This new system has been implemented to identify and block calls that appear to originate from Indian numbers (+91-xxxxxxxxx) but are actually scams originating overseas. These scammers often impersonate government officials, threaten service disconnection, or create panic.
The system has been highly effective, blocking approximately 13.5 million (or 90%) of such calls within the first 24 hours of operation. All calls identified as spoofed calls coming from overseas as Indian mobile numbers are being blocked by telecom service providers (TSPs).

Conclusion
However, it’s important to remain vigilant as the scammer might come out with another method. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) urges users to report such suspicious calls even with an Indian number through the Chakshu facility on Sanchar Saathi.
