Meghalaya Gearing up to recruit 400 Home Guard

The NorthEast State Meghalaya is gearing up to recruit 400 Home Guards in the state to boost manpower in the Police department and will also help in better traffic management.

State to Recruit Over 400 Home Guard

The State Cabinet Minister for Civil Defence and Home Guards, Coming Ymbon, announced on Wednesday that Meghalaya is set to launch a recruitment drive to fill 400 vacancies in the Home Guards department the recruitment will commence in September.

This recruitment is expected to boost the Police department and improve traffic management. The recruitment drive will be done for the positions such as sub-inspectors, guardsmen, drivers, and non-combatant employees.

Conclusion

This is a great move as the State of Meghalaya is suffering from high unemployment and currently ranks lowest in terms of unemployment in the Northeast. As per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2022-23, Meghalaya’s unemployment rate is 6.0 percent. The highest among the Northeast states.
