Meta has launched the “Scams se Bacho” campaign, starring Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, to raise awareness about online safety and protect users from cyber scams. The campaign, supported by the Indian government through MeitY, I4C, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), focuses on educating users about common scams and promoting safer online practices.

In the campaign’s film, Khurrana plays a witty wedding guest who uses humor and quick thinking to prevent others from falling victim to scams. The film emphasizes practical safety features available on Meta’s platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. These features include two-factor authentication, group privacy controls, and tools to block and report suspicious accounts, all designed to protect users from fraud.

Khurrana stressed the importance of staying vigilant in today’s digital environment, where online scams are becoming more convincing. Meta’s Vice President and Head of Public Policy, Shivnath Thukral, added that combating scams requires collaboration and significant investment in security tools and education.

The campaign also highlights common scams such as OTP (one-time password) scams, impersonation scams, and fraudulent investment schemes.

To strengthen user safety, Meta has invested over $20 billion since 2016 in security initiatives and employs more than 40,000 people dedicated to safety. In the last three years, Meta has introduced more than 50 safety tools to keep users informed and secure online.
