The American drive manufacturing company Western Digital unveiled the WD My Passport portable hard disk drives (HDDs) line and SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD in 6TB capacities in India. The two drives are set to join the other Western Digital products in India. These drives are the first 2.5-inch portable HDDs to have such big 6TB capacities. So, here are the things you need to know.

Pricing

The 6TB WD My Passport has two variants one with USB Type-C and one without USB Type-C, The USB Type-C variant is a little costlier. The WD element is the cheapest among all these four new products.

Availability

The 6TB WD My Passport, 6TB WD My Passport with USB Type-C, and the WD Elements 6TB will be available for purchase through Western Digital retailers, retailers, and Western Digital stores. The 6TB WD SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD will start to go on sale by the end of July through select Western Digital retailers, retailers, and the Western Digital Store.

6TB WD My Passport Specification and features

The WD My Passport offers both USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 interface, while the other 6TB WD My Passport works with USB Type-C with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface. These drives have a feature that is a company’s in-house software to add an extra layer of security to these drives with password protection and built-in 256-bit AES encryption.

These drives also have an easy backup and defense against ransomware through the included Acronis True Image for Western Digital software. Both these drive speeds are up to 5Gb/s and a limited warranty of three years is offered by the company.

6TB SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD Specification and features

Meanwhile, the 6TB SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD offers much more features and is more costlier. It has a 2.5-inch form factor and it is advertised as the world’s first 2.5-inch 6TB portable hard drive.

It offers a USB 3.1 Gen 1 with an additional Thunderbolt 3 interface and has the same transfer speed up to 5Gb/s Gb/s through a USB Type-C connector. It also includes a three-year limited warranty.
