YouTube has rolled out the YouTube Shopping affiliate program to several countries, and now this feature is finally available in India. This new feature has the potential to increase content creators’ earnings by providing them with a new opportunity to earn on YouTube, apart from ad revenue. Let me explain how this feature works.
YouTube Shopping affiliate program
YouTube announces the YouTube Shopping affiliate program for YouTube in India, starting with partnerships with Flipkart, the country’s largest e-commerce platform, and Myntra. With this new feature, creators can directly tag products from these e-commerce platforms in their videos. When someone purchases the tagged product, the creator earns a commission.
As you see in the above GIF image shared by Google, this is how the YouTube Affiliate program will look on YouTube, where viewers can find the product under the description or in the ‘Products’ section.
YouTube also allows creators to tag products in long-form videos, Shorts, and livestreams. When someone clicks on this product, they will be redirected to the Flipkart or Myntra product page to complete the purchase.

How to join the YouTube Shopping affiliate program?
The YouTube Shopping affiliate program is eligible for creators who have 10,000 or more subscribers. These creators must complete a registration process. After completion, creators can tag products in their new or existing videos, including live streams.
Conclusion
This is an added feature to the current YouTube shopping features, where creators can connect their own merchandise stores to their channels. This is also another earning opportunity for creators apart from other monetization options like ads, YouTube Premium, Brand Connect, and fan features such as Channel Memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers.
