Google Pixels Thermometer app New features

A recent analysis of the Thermometer app (version 1.0.676362763) on Google Pixel 9 Pro/XL and Pixel 8 Pro devices, conducted by Android Authority in collaboration with tipster AssembleDebug, has revealed an upcoming feature known as Material Auto-Detection.

Currently, users have to manually select the material of the object before measuring its temperature. The available options include food and organic, beverages and water, cast iron, shiny material, matte material, fabric, and wood. With these new features, the material type will be automatically detected before scanning using TensorFlow Lite models.

Manual material selection may remain an optional choice. It’s speculated that this feature might be accessible within the material selection menu.

However, this information is based on an APK teardown, and developers will test many features. Not all of these features will necessarily be included in the app’s public release.
