YouTube announced on Thursday that it is implementing new safety measures designed to protect teenage users from harmful content. These measures aim to create a more positive and supportive experience for minors on the platform.

YouTube New Safety Measures for Teen Users

One of the key changes is the restriction of video recommendations related to body weight, fitness, and physical appearance for teenagers. This decision was informed by the advice of an advisory committee, which found that young people are more susceptible to negative self-perception than adults.

YouTube clarified in a blog post that the affected videos include those that compare physical features, idealize specific body types or fitness levels, or promote aggressive behavior. This update is being rolled out globally to all users.
