YouTube Music ‘Speed dial’ feature a redesign of ‘Listen again’

YouTube Music has rolled out a new feature on Android and iOS, replacing the "Listen Again" section with a new "Speed Dial" section.

YouTube Music has rolled out a new feature on Android and iOS, replacing the “Listen Again” section with a new “Speed Dial” section. This revamped section offers a more efficient way to access your frequently played content.

YouTube Music “Speed Dial”

In the Youtube Home Section instead of the previous 10×2 carousel, which limited visibility to only six items per screen, the new “Speed Dial” section utilizes a 3×3 grid across three pages, allowing for a total of 27 songs, albums, artists, and playlists to be displayed at once. Small dots at the bottom of the screen indicate the current page.

YouTube Music’s Speed Dial feature has received a significant upgrade, expanding the number of shortcuts from 9 to 27. This enhancement aims to streamline the user experience and provide quicker access to frequently listened-to music.

How it works:

  • Tapping a track: Initiates playback without leaving the Home feed. The Now Playing screen does not appear.
  • Long-pressing a track: Opens an overflow menu for additional options.
  • Active songs: Highlighted with a white outline.
  • Inactive songs: Open the associated album, artist, or playlist page.

The introduction of Speed Dial is a response to user feedback, as the previous iteration was not as efficient as the “Listen Again” feature. By increasing the number of shortcuts, YouTube Music aims to help users “quickly explore and listen to the songs and artists you’ve got on repeat.”
